Fallen Officer PC Jon Henry

If I'm honest, I'm a bit of a police groupie. I'm blessed with good friends who've been in the Service for most of their working lives, and my Viking who has not long started. When I started blogging I tripped over Inspector Gadget's musings and I've been hooked ever since. I have nothing but respect for the people who get up in the morning, leave their families and loved ones, put on their body armour and hit the streets. I couldn't do it. The frustrations of seeing the same people day in day out playing out their own particular soap opera in the System, knowing that those above are busy creating origami and most of the general public don't care.

I haven't blogged about PC Jon Henry before because I haven't found the words until now. To be honest, it's still all tied up in the fear that one day I'll be seeing my Viking's parents sitting next to some bloke in a suit dishing out arse covering phrases and spin-written speeches.

PC Jon Henry died doing a job he loved. He leaves behind a grieving widow and his baby, he leaves behind friends and colleagues who will be looking at his locker, at his coffee cup. For those of us who didn't know him, he is more than a news story.

  1. Roses, you are taurus just like my sister, a good person I would say, taureans are good people.

You saw some of the comments of on person. It's rather silly, but I think they don't like me, and they are using it to state they are "anti racist", when in fact they are probably not. Thank you for your comments and keep in touch....Signed off by Twining aka the Pink Panther.

  2. Welcome twining ~ yep, I'm a taurus and sometimes good person. To be honest, I don't think it's about you, or any other coppers. I suspect they are a rent-a-rabble, troll type.

It's lovely that you popped by, please come again, I'll put the kettle on.

it's good to keep mentioning these issues as I think sometimes people take the public services adn the job they do for granted and forget it's actually fathers/mothers/sons/daughters loved ones only doing a job

  5. inspector gadget ~ thanks for dropping by, I appreciate your comments and you are welcome any time.

NM ~ I'm aware I have a vested interest, but it doesn't change the fact that these men and women take great risks on our behalf and aren't appreciated.

  8. Roses, your younger than me! And a student! Well done! I will pop by and add a link also. I don't think people like the truth of some of what I say. No worries, about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright.

  9. twining ~ am I? Sometimes I feel 137 years old, occasionally 17 years, and every now and then I'm 17 months and throw myself on the floor and scream and bang my heels against the floor.

Links are always appreciated. Like your blog and comments muchly.

Hi Roses, I couldn't agree more, you put it so well. I haven't posted about PC Jon Henry because I didn't feel I could have done any better than the police bloggers out there & somehow didn't feel it was my place. Strange isn't it? I don't know, hard to explain but I just felt I had to stand up to what certain people were saying. I suppose that is my contribution to his memory, I simply don't know.

Thanks for the link, I will get one up to you & thank you for the comment, agreed 100% about that too :o)

  11. Welcome G*N*D ~ yeah, anon made me cross when I saw what he was writing on other sites. He made me angry when I read what he wrote on yours. Such a big man.

Well, as I said, I do have a vested interest.

Well, *if* it's the same person, which I strongly suspect it is then he's been very busy on Inspector Gadgets blog under the 'Anarchy in the UK' post, I confronted him, with stuff he absolutely could not deny & what does he do? Shut up & disappear! It seems if you confront him with a watertight argument he doesn't have an answer which of course I expected. I was even called a thug! Lil ole me at 5ft & 6 stone, a thug! Laughable.

I have to say, I enjoyed writing the reply, take a look if/when you can because I had him tied in a knot, he either had to admit he was in the wrong about the police or say all his medical friends were murderers etc etc.
I think you did the same thing on my comments :o)

I don't know why I've let him get to me because usually I rise above such pathetic-ness but I couldn't let this one go.

Yeah, I have a vested interest too, one of my friends is in the police & an ex is so I think it was that that made me bite, the fact he was wishing stuff on people like them.
Have been reading through your archives, can't believe you've been going a year & I've only just stumbled across your blog, it's really good, keep it up :o)

  13. G*N*D ~ what amazed me the most, is that despite him spouting off ill-informed crap, several PC bloggers were still saying they'd still be prepared to go out to a call if it came from him.

Thanks for your kind words about my blog, I think yours rocks.
