Too Much of a Good Thing...

It started in the summer when I was considering colours for The Flat. The front room has two fairly neutral colours: Dusted Damson and Malt Chocolate. When I was looking for new curtains, the only ones I could endure were the purple faux silk ones. I thought nothing of it. And then I needed to buy a bin for my study area and that was purple.

In the Devil's marketplace, otherwise known as Dunelm Mill I then had to purchase a couple of blankies, one of which absconded to Lincoln with Boy. Yes, they were purple too. I then bought new kitchen bits and pieces...you won't get any good odds if you like to gamble...yep, you guess it. Purple.

Then there's my lunch bag, microwavable lunch pot (for hot food) and sports bottle (that I use for my morning gritty).

So, I'm in Sainsbury's on Sunday and they've got a sale on - 25% off all clothing. There was this fabulous jumper.

It was only when I got out the car and headed into the office building that I realised I'd gone too far. My nails are sparkly purple and my pendant is amethyst.

*sigh*

I have no idea why I'm into purple right now. It makes no sense to me. But it seems suddenly I'm surrounded by purple things I have to buy.

Perhaps it's the Jenny Jones poem?

Perhaps it's the Universe trying to tell me something?

Purple is a royal colour. It's the colour associated with the Crown Chakra and is all about meditation, peace, intellect and imagination. It's the colour associated with spiritual fulfilment and peace. It symbolises magic and mystery.

It'll be interesting to see what occurs in the next few months as to whether my Life's Path travels down the road suggested. Or not.

Who knows? I don't. I just know I really like it at the moment and want to indulge.

  3. I went through a similar purple phase a few years ago - it might pass. But who cares if it doesn't? Purple is gorgeous and so are you - just saying...

    1. Did you? And you made it through the other side. It's funny, if I wear black, I don't feel as self-conscious.

Thank you honey, you're a sweetie.

  4. I like purple, it's a lovely rich colour. A little goes a long way though. I assume you're teaming the purple jumper with some other colours?

    1. Yeah...I haven't managed that 'little goes a long way' thing yet. I wore black jeans and brown walking boots. Oh yeah, and purple earrings.

Did I mention I coloured my hair with a purple tint?

    2. Funnily enough, I kept buying purple clothes a couple of winters ago. But it's a good colour, I like it.

    3. I feel a bit more reassured it's not just me.

Maybe I should throw a purple party?

The thing is I can't ever remember reacting to a colour like this before. It's so weird.

  6. I love purple and wear quite a lot of Purple and Mauve's in shirts, ties and T's, soft pale pinks are also a frequent visitor to my closet... and fortunately I look and feel great in canary yellow! Go figure?

    1. I'll raid your purple and pinks. I can't wear yellow. I look ill. I have people threatening to decapitate me. I look like a zombie.

  7. Purple is an awesome colour! You look fabulous in purple, so run with it, Roses, for as long as you like. It never goes out of fashion. I wear lots of purple because it looks good on me. I also wear blues and pinks. I never wear greens, golds or oranges. I look ghastly. I'm sure you'll get to the point where you coordinate all this purple with other colours and you'll always look stunning. xoxoxo

    1. Thank you lovely.

As people will attest, I'm not fashion-inclined. I like what I like. This is why I'm slightly perplexed by this sudden craving for all things purple.

I can see from pix, you're right to stay away from greens etc. I don't wear beiges near my face or gold at all. Ugh. I always think they look a bit dull. I like strong colours.

As a Viking woman, you can't be wearing the wishy washy either.

    2. That happened to me too! Suddenly blue was the color. I had a blue bed in my garden, did blue beadwork, and bought almost every shade of blue embroidery floss I could find. Clothes, household accessories, the whole nine yards. I visited a special quilt show that featured antique Japanese work done in vegetable indigo fabrics and it was TO SWOON. This might be weird, but there was one particular shade (peacock blue) that literally made my mouth water when I saw it. It made me a believer in color therapy for sure...something about it was just me.
